How do you view a blog? Specifically, how do you view YOUR blog? I’ve read a few blogger interview posts, and there are quite a few varying perspectives. Some say their sole purpose of blogging is to make money; there are others who are passionate about it and view it as a form of art; and yet there are those who see blogging as a fun hobby, and monetizing it is just icing on the cake.
Well, let’s have some fun with it and, metaphorically as well as humorously, express what blogs can mean to their owners.
My Blog, My Livestock

MOOOOOOOO!!! My blog is a cow. I want to fatten it up with content and SEO, and watch it as it grows nice and plump. As soon as I can envision an appetizing plate of steak and potatoes, my eyes will light up with flashing dollar signs. I’m gonna auction that heifer up at the next 4-H fair…or maybe Sitepoint…whichever costs less for shipping and transfer costs. BLOG, it’s what’s for dinner!
My Blog, My Car Kit

My blog is a piece of junk car that, despite what all my family and friends say, has major potential. It’s an ongoing project that I enjoy working on. It will bring me self-confidence and popularity. I’m investing a substantial amount of time and money in it so that one day, I will have the most pimped-out site in the blogosphere. It’s gonna be a major ‘head-turner’. Go ahead and laugh at me now; you’ll be eating your words later.
My Blog, My Squeezy Toy

My blog is a squeezy toy, a stress ball. Whenever I feel like I cannot handle my daily routine, I squeeze the living daylights out of it to calm myself down. I go online and type out my frustrations while taking Dr. Buddy Rydell’s advice and slowly repeating ‘Goose Fraba, Goose Fraba’ under my breath.

Do you have a blog metaphor? If you do, let me know and I will post them collectively with your name and a link to your blog. Either drop your metaphor in the comment box below or use Fresh Geeks’ contact form to send it in. I’ll let this run for 2 weeks. Also, if you plan on sending in your thoughts, please keep them clean and of a ‘family-friendly’ nature. Looking forward to hearing your interesting perspectives!

Hi JBlu,
Haha! It’s interesting how you categorized blogging into these metaphors.
My blog is a Blue Beaver…no wait that’s too obvious. My blog is a car that transforms into a cow and eats squeezy toys. I’m sure that’s self-explanatory.
@Ernie
Yup, that one is as transparent as they come.
As a blogging newbie, my first site has to go with the following:
So much blogging, so little time!
There is no rhyme or reason to most of my posts, just whatever is on my mind at the time (which is usually indecipherable). Such is life I guess.
Others that would apply:
The Blind Leading the Blog
A BlogPodge of Ideas
Blogosity killed the cat
Mine is like the cow. In fact, I’m not even going to wait till SitePoint - first offer over 1 mill and you guys can have it
Good post!
My blog is like my moods
Sometimes manic
Sometimes depressed
Sometimes thoughtful
Always moody, LOL
@Angelika
My Blog, My Moods, nice!
Those are some good analogies. I think I relate most to your first option - my blog, my livestock. Can’t wait ’till dinner time.
You are right, every blogger has his own purpose of blogging. I think what matters most to bloggers even they think blogging is a squeezing ball, a junk car, or a milking cow is their happiness that they are getting from what they are doing. To all bloggers, stay blogging:)
