Hmm…what do you make of this? Well, I’m not sure of the reason yet, but when I attempted to access swypefile today, to my surprise I got this message:
“Unfortunately, swypefile has been shut down for the time being. Things weren’t going as planned, and we are re-thinking the swypefile concept. Thanks to everyone who supported what we were trying to do!”
It’s been about a week since it’s official launch, and apparently they are already having problems. Of all the reviews on Swypefile that I’ve read, there really isn’t much information on the people behind the project. Here’s what I could find:
The domain name swypefile.com is registered to:
Domains by Proxy, Inc.
DomainsByProxy.com
15111 N. Hayden Rd., Ste 160, PMB 353
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
United States
It’s registered under GoDaddy, and expires on October 25, 2008.
It would have been nice if they were considerate of their registered users and made them aware of what was going on. There will probably be more info. on it later, and I’ll update this post then. If you know anything, feel free to share.
If you liked what you read, stay updated by subscribing to Fresh Geeks' RSS. Thanks for visiting and come often.
I don’t think there is much room left in the digg clone arena. I’m sure they’ll be back though!
Hmm.. I’ve never heard of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went down for good.
@The Critical Critic
The way they went out isn’t good for business…it tarnishes their reputation a bit, and users aren’t very likely to give their trust that easily.
@Gyutae
I wouldn’t be surprised either.
I think they are down for good, the website is now parked on Godaddy earning a little bit of income from the adsense placed on the parked page. I am a little disappointed that they closed down with no warning, I was getting pretty decent adsense earnings from them.
