Content and SEO are Priorities

11 April 08

Have you ever spent, or rather overspent, time on deciding which color scheme to go with or which picture best fits the design or theme of one of your websites? I admit that I sometimes find myself obsessing over design attributes of my sites rethinking and overthinking things. Anyway, this is a definite time and energy waster and should be avoided because it takes time away from working on the more important aspects of a website.

I’ve found that if your plan for a site is to make money off of it, content creation and SEO are priorities…design and ‘making it pretty’ is just the cherry on the ton. In many cases, a basic template is all that is required, and unique designs aren’t necessary for monetization purposes.

Well, this post was just a quick thought for the day…establish the foundations of your website with content and SEO first, and play with the design elements later.

What are your basic site building strategies?

Of course, content and SEO is top priority. But also, the overall look counts for this is what viewers see first.

I know from experience that good content on your site will do way more for you than a pretty site. But for real traffic to come back it does need to have a nice simple intuitive layout.

No question about it .. page and page/file name. I’m also staring to experiment with pingbacks.

Although Content and SEO should be on the top but I like to design sites or blogs as well. I always give a personal touch of my choice(I know what type of traffic is yet to come to I always have some design stuff first).

I don’t think there are any hard or fast rules. There is always debate over content king or design or links etc. I always say “It depends”
Depending on the purpose of the page or site, design can be a huge factor. A lot of design thought goes into landing pages for example. Design is also important on flagship blogs as well.
For thin affiliate or MFA sites, its not very important though.

I really have to step it up on my blog…the only real content is in the posts themselves. :/

Even though People say “Content is King” but I am not going to believe that because there are many more other aspects which can make a blog popular or can dumb it.
