In addition to commenting on doFollow blogs, and submitting your urls to doFollow social bookmarking sites, there are other free methods and options for linkbuilding. One of these methods is through getting your sites listed in internet directory sites.
I’ve only gotten a handful of unique traffic hits from directories, so as far traffic generation is concerned, based on my experiences, directory submissions are no good for generating traffic.
I can, however, say that directory submissions have helped a substantial amount for backlink building. Using only doFollow blog commenting and directory submissions, I got one of my new websites with a spankin’ new domain to a PR4 in 2 months. Granted this really isn’t anything to brag about, it just stresses the point that directory submissions do help out a lot.
I haven’t invested any money in automated directory submissions software. However, I have been using the free version of Brad Callen’s Directory Submitter. It works great and saves loads of time. There’s also the option of purchasing the premium version of Directory Submitter. As I have yet to try it, I cannot say whether it is effective or not.
Well, it you use Directory Submitter also, do let us know how it’s working for you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

Thanks for the directory submitter link, having a look right now. I have been after something like this for awhile.
I’m in the process of using the same software from Brad Cullen. So far, I like the ease of use.
