High Tech Fishing - Light Strobe Fishing Lures

I stumbled into eBay seller bbecoco’s eBay store and found this watchamacallit

A High-Tech Processor LED Strobe Flashing Fishing Lure

Isn’t that a mouthful?

The purpose of the light is to attract young and restless fish looking for a place to dance (Get it?…The strobe light?…Disco?…Yeah, I guess that was kind of lame lol).

Actually, the blinking red light is supposed to fool fish into thinking that the lure is an injured bleeding fish. The theory behind the system is when fish see the blinking lure and mistake it for a bleeding fish, they go into predator mode and attack the lure fiercely. The deceptive concept seems reasonable, but I thought I read somewhere that animals only see in black and white.

Do Fish See Color?

Well I can’t give you a definite yes or no answer but (according to Dr. Ellis Loew, a professor of physiology at Cornell University) studies have shown that many fish “have the necessary nervous system elements for color vision to be present”.

So if you want to try it out for yourself, you can purchase a set of four strobe fishing lures for around $15-30.

An interesting gift and gadget for fishing fans. I don’t think fish will see color as well but they’ll definitely attract to light. For around $15-30, this is one cheap gadget.

Does anyone know where to purchase these lures at? I looked on e-bay but could not find any. I really would like to buy some from a manufacturer or store (online is fine). Thanks so much
