The above is a picture of the water ionizer I have in my kitchen. Although not a new invention, it is the new wave health craze. People have claimed that ionized (alkaline) water has revitalized their energy, helped them to lose weight, and even cure them of certain diseases.

But does it really work, or is it a scam? I have yet to figure that out for myself. Some people swear that this is the real deal, and some say to steer clear of this ‘good-for-nothing fraudulent’ product.

Water Filter & Water Ionizer

Water Ionizers are becoming more and more popular in the United States, but still a lot of people haven’t heard of it. So what exactly is it? Well, before we get into what this awkward-looking machine is all about, let’s define ionized water.

The Pure Water Theory

Ionized water is water that has gone through the process of electrolysis. It is either enhanced with negative or positive ions. Ionized water enhanced with negative ions is called alkaline water. Ionized water enhanced with positive ions is called acidic.

Alkaline water, A.K.A. miracle water, acts as a powerful antioxidant. It kills the free radicals in your body therefore promoting good health. I will not delve too deeply into the health benefits. I

f you would like to hear more about it, I will gladly make another post. Just hit me up in the comments area.

How the Water Ionizer Machine Is Said To Work

This is how it was explained to me…There are electrodes (electrical conductors) made up of platinum-coated titanium plates inside of the machine. Between the electrodes are membranes made up of pulp mesh. When tap water runs through the plates, the electrolysis takes place and enhances the water with both negative and positive ions.

The membranes in between the plates separate the positive and negative ions. The outcome is two sets of water (Alkaline and Acidic) created at the same time.

How are the waters separated? Well, there are two places that the water flows out from. In the picture above, there is a stainless steel nozzle on the top of the machine.

The machine allow you to make a choice of what kind of water is produced, Alkaline and Acidic (You are able to control the PH and ORP of the water on most brands of water ionizers which gives you more power and control as to how alkaline and acidic you want the water to be).

Your choice will flow out of the stainless steel nozzle. On the left, there is a soft plastic piping. The opposite of your choice will flow out of the machine through the plastic piping.

I’m no biochemist so I’m not able to give you a scientifically ‘jargonized’ explanation. This post was meant to brief you on what a water ionizer is supposed to do.
