The front USB inputs on my computer are fried, so I was browsing the web for an external hub. There’s a lot to choose from. Some are lighted, disguised as toys, and/or are multi-functional. I compiled a short list of the geekiest USB devices I stumbled across.

The Armageddon USB Hub (MSRP $68.00) is disguised as a military detonation device complete with a self-destruct button, on-off switches, and a key and lock. The self-destruct button honks when pressed, and playing with the switches and key will cause the lights on the device to flash. The 4 USB ports are hidden in the back of the device. Of all the Geeky USB stuff listed, this one is the coolest in my opinion.

I would never have come up with a flash drive in the form of shrimp tempura. Wouldn’t this make a great and geeky usb gag gift? Solid Alliance has a wide array of edible looking drives…they also come in the form of sushi and sashimi. In addition to the food category, there are others such as animals and bling. Have a look at their site (which happens to be in Japanese characters, they’ve got a lot of pictures though).

Going back to the military theme, the USB Rocket Launcher has a ‘360 degree horizontal rotation and 45 degree vertical rotation’. With the ability to fire over a distance of up to six meters, this nifty geeky USB hub gives you coverage for over 113 square meters of your workspace. Warning: Use of this product during work hours may cause a loss of employment.

The ultimate geeky usb multi-tool for survival in both outdoor and in-office environments. It includes a red led light, ballpoint pen, knife, scissors, file with screwdriver, keyring, and of course the usb flash drive.

The USB Mug Warmer & Hub is pretty self-explanatory. This one’s my favorite and the one I’ll probably get for myself. Coffee warmer + USB hub…two of my addictions (caffeine and computers) rolled up into one.

HAHAH seriously…that shrimp was ridiculous. I didn’t even know their was a market for this sort of thing, but I can see why…one of my usb is fried as well in the front of my computer. I should get that badass rocket launcher
Don’t know if this tops the list, but Tigerdirect.com had a free USB hub advertised for their “Pink Friday” sale 11/23/07.
@Dan
Solid Alliance has a ton funny USB flash drives…funny stuff
@The Monetizer
Thanks for the heads up on the free USB Hub. There are a lot of crazy sales today.
Thank you both for stopping by
I love the mug warmer hub… too cute!
@Dan
There’s also a missile launcher USB hub, although I think the rocket launcher shoots farther
@Evelyn
Yeah, the mug warmer is one that’s actually practical. Thanks for visiting
I like the swiss USB and the mug warmer, two very handy bits of candy
Hi Mike
Handy bits of candy…too funny, and it rhymes too;)
Oh wow, I love the shrimp one. I want it.
I like the tempura usb also, but it’s a bit too pricey for me…80 bucks for a 2gb version.
[…] and I thought I’d start the work week off on a humorous note. In continuation of a previous geeky stuff post, here’s two more to add to the […]
This is such a cool USB hub! Kinda wished that each of the switches and buttons could be configured to map to a keyboard, or launch a program or just do something to the PC it is hooked up to huh! Thanks!
Oh and, I know this is like 9 months too late, but you should only get the USB mug warmer if you’re going to use a metal mug. The heat generated by these things are not enough to do anything to ceremic mugs.
