Factoid of the Week

Well, I just dubbed Thursday Factoid of the Week Day here on Fresh Geeks until further notice. I will post a tech-related fact that I think you all might find interesting. So here goes…

Yes I know, I know - Domain names get sold every day…no big deal. Well, I was browsing eBay for cheap domains to bid on when I stumbled across the auction for drumset.com. The auction ended yesterday with the winning bid of $24,100 made by ebay user totalmart . com. I thought that was an interesting tidbit to share. Of course, that price is chump change compared to the sale of poker.com which sold for an upwards of $20+ million dollars.

Here is a list of the Top 5 Most Expensive Domains:

1. poker.com ($20+ million)

2. sex.com ($14 million)

3. porn.com ($9.5 million)

4. business.com ($7.5 million)

5. beer.com ($7 million)

I didn’t know that domains are sold also on Ebay. I have known about sedo and similar. Btw on the sixth place can be vodka.com sold for $5 milions!

Actually, I didn’t know about those domains being sold on Ebay either! Alas, those domain names could fetch quite a bit of money. Wonder how they’d earn it back - legally?
