If you’re not a blogger, you can replace the terms blogger with internet marketer, SEO consultant, web designer, or almost whatever you please. The latter can be applied to business ethic in general.

For most, watching your website grow is very similar to watching grass grow…unflinchingly staring at it won’t change the fact that it cannot grow overnight. I admit that patience is one of the hardest qualities for me to display, but blogging has taught me to be better at it.
Blogging takes time. Time builds patience. If you’ve got what it takes to succeed, this will manifest itself in due time.
The number of things to do on a blogger’s list are countless and can be quite overwhelming. Original and outstanding content is to be created. Promotion and socializing is also a must. On top of that, many of us still hold a day job, and an our offline social life must be maintained.
Patience and perseverance go hand-in-hand, and a blogger lacking the two will fail. Being in it for the long haul takes determination and hard work, and all of the former contributes to one’s development of perseverance.
We are faced with many choices in our online business dealings, and taking the ’shady’ and unethical route may seem like the easiest and most effective way to go. Making ethical choices and maintaining integrity contributes to the building of your reputation and authority. This applies not only in the specific niche you’re in, but also in general terms of being human.
What we do online is very traceable. Integrity gives our mothers, are spouses, or our children (for those of you that do have children) something to be proud of.
We may also burn out if we lack moderation when working. Developing a schedule and routine for blogging, and sticking to it teaches us the quality of self-control.
Also, striving for perfection and being a perfectionist can be harmful. We are bound to make a few grammatical errors here and there, and in that sense, blogging teaches us that we’re imperfect, and self-control will allow us to accept that fact.
As I just stated, we’re all imperfect. Some shortcomings such as rudeness and being obnoxious, are more inherent in some than others. We face people with these shortcomings a lot in the blogosphere, and sticking through it and continuing with our blogging quest teaches us tolerance (not to be mistaken with condoning such behavior).
Blogging is universal, so we encounter many people from different nations, cultures, ages, and backgrounds. We all have opinions. Respecting each other regardless if we agree or disagree on any given subject teaches tolerance.
We face unforeseen circumstances often, and there are many things that we cannot control. Servers go down, people can be rude and judgmental, and programs are buggy. Blogging teaches us flexibility in that, instead of breaking under the pressure, we bend and let the creative juices run in order to make due with the tools we have and survive another day to blog about tomorrow.
You might argue that perseverance and endurance are the same thing. I believe that perseverance is a mindset, and endurance is perseverance in action. One dictionary defines endurance as ‘the ability to suffer… stress of any kind without succumbing’.
Well, Blogging is a marathon, and marathons require endurance.
I’ve been accused of being an idealist and optimist, and this can very well cloud one’s business vision. Feel free to agree or disagree with me.

Interesting post… More and more, I question #1 even though I have grown my blog organically.
Time and time again, I have seen new blogs shoot up to 100 readership within a month. They know how to market themselves and work social media.
However, to have this quick success might be hard to duplicate again and again. Then you need the other qualities you mentioned
Preseverance and Endurance is 2 important requisite as blogging is a “marathon” and not a “100m dash”.
Your point #3 reminds me of the recent bad experience I encountered, it was indeed a nightmare for me.
Online credibility is one thing I work hard towards protecting.
I like you mentioned Flexibility. That’s important and we don’t see it often in this kind of lists.
Great! But nothing new, mostly it applies to anything we do and want to achieve.
J.Blu. Once again, Great post. Blogging is a game of endurance and pateince. It can really get you down sometimes, if things aren’t going your way. More often than not it does work out in the end if you stick with it.
And the ones that don’t, don’t let them worry you, move onto the next one, we learn from our mistakes.
